Melissa Fumero is a soap opera star, an American actress popularly known for playing the character Adriana Corner in the series One Life to Live, and Zoe in Gossip Girl. More recently, she has received plenty of acclaims for co-starring alongside Adam Sandberg as his nerdy partner (Amy) in the hit series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which has amassed a massive following. Her pleasant demeanor, good looks, and comedic acting make her a favorite of many and has earned her a number of awards.

The charming actress was born Melissa Gallo on August 19, 1982, to parents of Cuban descent. Her folks immigrated to America when they were teenagers. Melissa was born and raised in New Jersey. She took up dancing as a child because her parents registered her for dancing and acting classes, and she ended up catching the performance bug.

Melissa Fumero serenaded the congregation, singing in her local church choir. She also featured in theatre productions at her school. After graduating from high school, she attended New York University where she bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, as a Drama major.

Unlike other actors who had a hard time finding jobs and footing in their chosen career, Melissa landed her first job on her very last day at university. She was offered a role in Emmy Award-winning One Life to Live, a very popular soap that had been running since 1968. She appeared in the series until 2011, and subsequently starred in All My Children, a spin-off of the earlier show, playing the same character. Around this period, Melissa got to play a small part in the star-studded Gossip Girl.

Her break into the silver screen came when she starred in Tiny Dancer, an independent film that wasn’t widely circulated. She also secured a bigger role in the movie Descent, although her character didn’t have a name. She played a character with her real name in the comedy movie, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. Melissa joined the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast in 2013, playing Amy Santiago, a police detective in the eponymous police station. Her co-star included Jo Lo Truglio, Adam Sandberg, and .

She’s also had small appearances in a number of other TV series including The Mentalist, Men at Work, Royal Pains, CSI: NY, and Hell’s Kitchen. The New Jersey native has had some guest appearances in web series and other short films. She is the narrator of an audiobook called The Land I Lost (Ghosts of the Shadow Market 7).

Melissa Fumero has been nominated for the ALMA, Imagen Awards, and the NHMC Impact Awards which she won. The actress is very much involved in charity work. Husband – David Fumero, Children, and Family

Melissa met her husband, , on the set of One Life to Live, which he also starred in. David is Cuban just like Melissa, she never imagined that she would marry a fellow Latino until she met him.

David and Melissa’s love story actually began much earlier, years before they actually crossed paths. When the gorgeous Brooklyn Nine-Nine star was 13 years old, she had a huge crush on David Fumero, who was 10 years older and a regular fixture on MTV, where he worked as a model. However, she didn’t realize he was the David from her teenage obsessions until they had been going out for a few months.

They hid their relationship in the beginning to avoid the glare of the public. The two got married in early December 2007, and remain happily married despite rumors being peddled about extramarital affairs. David admits that he had a hard time watching his wife be in love with someone else on the show while he played her cousin, but with trust and understanding, they got over it.

Melissa became pregnant while they were filming the third season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and her son was born five days after they finished shooting that season on March 24, 2016. They named the baby boy Enzo. The family continues to live happily in their home in Los Angeles.
