Shalita Grant’s Bio

Shalita Grant is a brilliant American actress, born on August 28, 1988, in Petersburg, Virginia. The young talent auditioned with the play A Raisin in the Sun as Beneatha to gain admission into Baltimore School for the Arts in Maryland, which she passed successfully. While there, she became a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and YoungArts Winner in Theater.

In her senior year, when she was 17 years old, she received a scholarship to study drama in the prestigious Juilliard School following her teacher’s advice. Shalita wrote two articles for the Juilliard journal and graduated in 2010 with B.F.A in Drama.

In 2006, Shalita Grant was part of the cast of the documentary Rehearsing a Dream which received an Oscar nomination and also appeared in the 2005 TV series Bones. Adding to her profile, she guest appeared in other series such as Good Wife (2009) and Melissa & Joey (2010). Her film credit in include Empire Corner and Invisible both in 2010.

She made her stage debut in 2010 when she took part in the play The Merchant of Venice in New York. She achieved another debut in Broadway in 2013 with the play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike of the Christopher Durang’s production and for her role as Cassandra in the play, Shalita Grant was nominated for Best Featured Actress in a Play; likewise the play won the award for Best Play and Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play at the Tony Awards. She again was nominated and won the Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut.

Grant’s credit in stage plays includes The Philanderer, Measure for Measure, The Winter’s Tale and Midsummer Night’s Dream which she did with The Pearl Theatre Company and The Public Theatre productions among others.

She relocated to Los Angeles, California in the same 2013 in order to grow her career and the actress recalls that the first one year was spent going for 54 auditions without as much as landing an acting role. With her savings fast running out, Shalita Grant had to take up a job as a bartender in order to keep herself afloat.

In 2015, she got a breakthrough and landed a role in the police procedural series NCIS: New Orleans as special agent Sonja Percy whose character was an ex-ATF agent. After the first season, Shalita became a series regular joggling from New Orleans, the set of the series to Los Angeles where she resided. This was the case until 2018 when she announced that she will be leaving the show.

With many asking the questions in order to ascertain her reason for leaving the series, speculations began mounting, pointing to Brad Kern’s racial remarks and sexual harassment, but the African American actress has been quick to deflate the theory, confirming that she is not leaving the CBS television show because of the incident.

Shalita Grant left the show in 2018 and landed a recurring role in Santa Clarita Diet, a Netflix horror-comedy series where she played the character of FBI agent, Tess Rogers,

Is Shalita Grant Married? Husband, Partner

Shalita Grant is gay and married. The talented TV star tied the nuptial knots with her partner, Sabrina Skau on August 8, 2018, in a private ceremony of 25 guests which held at the San Francisco’s City Hall. The gay couple met through a dating site in October 2016 and has since been dating until Sabrina asked Shalita to marry her on Christmas Eve in 2017 while they both were wearing matching onesies.

 

According to Shalita who sounded so excited to be married to Sabrina Skau said they chose the San Francisco’s City Hall because it was where the first California gay legal marriage was held.

The Julliard alumni is not one that would boast with her height as it is not one of her strongest physical attributes. She has, however, maintained her body and has a charming complexion. Shalita Grant has a height that is measured at 4 feet 11 inches (1.5 m) which below the average height for ladies. Her weight is roundly proportionate to her height and it is measured at 48 kg.
