Bio of Sheriff David Clarke

Sheriff David Clarke was born on August 21, 1956, in Milwaukee. His full name is David Alexander Clarke Jr. and he was born as one of five children.

Clarke attended Marquette University High School and was a member of the school’s basketball team. After high school, he took classes at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee but was quick to drop out when he got a job as a beer truck driver while in his first year.

He joined the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) in 1978, starting as a patrol officer which he did diligently for eleven years before being promoted to a homicide detective, followed by another promotion as a lieutenant of detectives and captain in 1999.

During his time with the police, Sheriff David Clarke was taking classes in Management of Criminal Justice from Concordia University Wisconsin’s School of Adult and Continuing Education and graduated in 1999 with a bachelor of arts degree. On March 19, 2002, he was appointed Milwaukee County Sheriff by Governor Scott McCallum after the incumbent sheriff resigned to take a pension payout. Clarke was elected to a full term in office in 2002, got re-elected in 2006 till 2014.

In his time as a political office holder, he built up for himself a “provocative social media” presence being a conservative Republican despite being registered as a Democrat and an avid supporter of President Donald Trump. He took up a job with the pro-Donald Trump super PAC America First Action as a spokesman and senior adviser.

He created a company called DAC Enterprises which is based in Maryland and is working for Capital Research Center and America First Action Policy.

The Issue With CNN

He got his master’s degree in security studies from Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in 2013 but it wasn’t without some controversy. The Cable News Network (CNN) reported that he had plagiarized 47 portions of his thesis without properly crediting his sources. According to the report by CNN, his thesis on “Making U.S. security and privacy rights compatible” was reported to have contents in verbatim from The 9/11 Commission Report, George W. Bush’s memoir Decision Points and reports by the American Civil Liberties Union without properly placing quotations to their sources.

This report made the Naval Postgraduate School withdraw the thesis from their online archive and they wrote Clarke a letter in July 2017 under the leadership of Commander Paul Rasmussen, the dean of students that he (Dean of students) agreed that his thesis was plagiarized and therefore is in violation of the school’s honour code, however; the “violation was not of any intentional deception or misappropriation efforts” and he should submit a revised thesis or a revocation of the degree will be initiated.

It is not yet known whether he has complied with this directive and what has become of his degree thereof.

Sheriff’s Family – Parents, Wife, Children

Clarke’s mother’s name was Jeri while his father was David Clarke Snr. a paratrooper with the 2nd Ranger Infantry Company. He parachuted into the front-line of combat in the Korean War (25 June 1950 – 27 July 1953) before he returned to Milwaukee. After his return, he worked at the post office at which time he had five children with his wife Jeri in a white neighbourhood.

Sheriff David Clarke was raised in a white neighbourhood, got educated in a white high school and finally married a white woman. He is considered and in like manner faced criticism from some black Americans that he is not “black enough.”

Clarke is married to Julie Clarke, a former court clerk and later a real estate agent/realtor. David and Julie met during a double-homicide trial that Sheriff David Clarke was the lead detective in the case while Julie was the court clerk at the time. They took a liking to each other, and the rest is the husband and wife we have known for all these years.

They have had no child/children together but seemed to be just fine with it all through the years. The couple got married in 1996 and live on the northwest side of Milwaukee in a house they built by themselves.

Sadly, in February 2018, Sheriff David Clarke was to have filed for divorce from his wife. The reason for this divorce is not yet known, however, it is now known that the couple might not have been having it rosy in their marriage all this while.

The height of Sheriff David Clarke as mentioned in a publication by was said to be 6 feet 4 inches. This is almost similar to what other sources have quoted, so, it can be taken to be correct.
