Teri Hatcher is an American actress, ex-NFL cheerleader, and singer who portrayed the character of Susan Mayer on one of America’s most favorite TV shows Desperate Housewife from 2004 to 2012. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe Award, three SAG Awards, and one Emmy nomination.

Teri Hatcher’s Biography

Actress Teri Lynn Hatcher was born in Palo Alto, California on December 8, 1964, and she became the only daughter and child of Owen Walker Hatcher Jr., her father, who is a nuclear physicist and electrical engineer and her mother, Esther Hatcher, a computer programmer at Lockheed Martin. When Teri was five years old she was sexually abused by her aunt’s husband at the time, Richard Hayes Stone, but she kept it to herself.

She would come forward to prosecutors with her testimony in 2002 as they were investigating another sexual abuse incident by Richard on a 14-year-old girl, Sarah Van Cleempunt, who killed herself. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to the crime but died in prison of colon cancer after serving only 6 years of his term.

As a child, Teri Hatcher enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and dancing which made her attend attended San Juan School of Dance in Los Altos for her ballet classes. She also went to Sunnyvale Middle School and Fremont High School graduating in 1982.

While she was in high school, she became the leader of a substitute cheerleading team called Featherettes and in 1980, she was given the Most Likely to Become a Solid Gold vote. After high school, Teri attended De Anza College, Cupertino, California and studied mathematics and engineering for two and half years before she dropped out to pursue a career in acting.

After that, she played Penny Parker in seven episodes of MacGyver from 1986 to 1989 alongside . She also appeared in Capitol as Angelica Stimac Clegg and landed the role Laura Matthews in the Fox comedy series Karen’s Song in 1987.
