From starting out at random night clubs to booking a residency at the coveted Las Vegas’ Harrah’s, John Caparulo has come a long way with his comedy career. Call him a late night staple if you may, Caparulo has appeared in a number of late night shows from E!’s Lately to Live and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. However, he is best known for his days with Chelsea Handler on Chelsea Lately where he gained recognition as the under-dressed everyman.

So, who really is John Caparulo? Well, from our research, there is a lot to be known about the funnyman. For starters, he was born on the 22nd of September 1975 in East Liverpool, Ohio where he was also raised.
He attended Akron University and a year later, he transferred to Kent State. Cap graduated from the school in 1998.
While focused on his academics, Cap developed an interest in comedy and began doing stand-up, starting out at nightclubs in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland, Ohio. To support himself financially, Cap worked a couple of odd jobs including as a doorman at the Hollywood California comedy club, Comedy Store. Watching aspiring comedians do their thing on these stages surely influenced Cap to keep up. He also worked at a local golf course as a groundsman.
Cap, upon graduation, continued to pursue his comic career and it didn’t take long before it began to pay off. In 2003, he travelled to Montreal, Canada to be a part of Just For Laughs, the largest international comedy festival in the world. There, he earned a spot in a sitcom as well as an appearance on CBS’s The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn.
John Caparulo kept rising from then onward. In 2006, he was part of a three-man team that collaborated with actor on his 30-day non-stop comedy tour that was turned into a documentary titled “Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights – Hollywood to the Heartland.” It premiered in September 2006 at the Toronto Film Festival and hit the theatre two years later in 2008.
Cap would book a spot on Chelsea Lately in 2007, exposing him to a wider audience. He released his first comedy special, John Caparulo: Meet Cap on Comedy Central in 2008. The same year, he began hosting Mobile Home Disaster on CMT which became a huge hit, leading him to start the radio show Mad Cap Hour on SiriusXM.
In 2010, John Caparulo returned to his alma mater, Kent State University to perform standup. In 2012, he appeared in the ABC sitcom Work It which was shortlived, lasting for under a month in January. Cap, in 2013, released his second comedy album Come Inside Me on Netflix.
In recent years, John has become known for his Caplets which is simply a comedy clip he releases every 30 days. He shoots the clip at the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California and makes it available via his website free of charge.

In an episode of Chelsea Lately in November 2010, John revealed his engagement to Jamie. He had proposed to her on the 29th of October 2010 at the Comedy & Magic Club shortly after he performed. On May 27th, 2012, they returned to Water Street Tavern to hold their nuptials.
Jamie Marie like John is also a funny person. She has joined him in hosting a couple of his shows including The Mad Cap Hour radio show, and his Domestic Disputes podcast. On 22nd May 2015, John Caparulo and his wife welcomed their first child, a daughter whom they named Madden Jae.
