Tulsi Gabbard is an American politician who many have come to respect for her numerous achievements, most especially her commitment to service. A member of the Democratic Party, Tusli currently represents Hawaii’s second congressional district in the US House of Representatives. Following her steady rise in American politics, she has now become a popular figure and lots of people have channeled their interests towards her affairs, especially since she made known her intention to run in the 2020 US presidential election.
Tulsi Gabbard’s Early Life and Educational Background
Born on the 12th day of April 1981, Tulsi Gabbard is the fourth child in a family made up of five children and the parents. Although she was born in Leloaloa, American Samoa, it was in Hawaii that she was raised by her parents Mike Gabbard and Carol Gabbard. Her family moved there when she was still a child. Tulsi is a practicing Hindu, as well as a vegetarian.
For her education, she started with being taught at home. Next, she attended Hawaii Pacific University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Her drive towards studying the course was because her family was also into business and she became a part of it quite early.
From a very young age, one thing that had always worked for her was her passion, and it was this, coupled with the fact that she has a politician as a father, that has helped in driving her into becoming a politician. In the early stages of her career, she served as the vice president of a non-governmental organization known as the Healthy Hawaii Coalition. She also worked for Stand Up For America (SUFA), a nonprofit organization founded by her father.
Details of Her Political and Military Career
Following in the footsteps of her father, Tulsi Gabbard chose to take a shot at the Hawaii State Legislature in 2002. At the time, she was only 21 and following her triumph in the election, she became the youngest person to be elected in the House. In 2004, she decided to leave politics to serve her country in the military and was sent to Iraq, alongside other soldiers from the 29th Brigade.
Although she had the option of staying back in the House, she chose to join the forces in the Middle East. When she returned from Iraq in 2009, Tulsi served as an aide to U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka. She later contested for and won a seat on the Honolulu City Council in 2010. However, she resigned on August 16, 2012, to allow her more time to focus on her congressional campaign.
Tulsi Gabbard decided to shoot for the House of Representatives in 2012 and with her victory, she now lives to serve in Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District. She was re-elected for a second term on November 8, 2014, and her third term was confirmed on November 8, 2016. The Congresswoman is currently serving her fourth term which began in 2018. She was a captain in the military until 2015 when she was promoted to the rank of a Major. She is now serving in the Hawaii Army National Guard in that rank.
As early as her teens, Tulsi started working for the Alliance for Traditional Marriage and Value founded by her father in his bid to fight same-sex marriage. She continued the struggled to ban same-sex marriage in the United States following her election into the 2nd House District of the Hawaii House of Representatives. However, she has since changed her stance and apologized for her actions against the LGBT community. According to the Congresswoman, her time in the army gave her reasons to see things differently.
On February 2, 2019, Gabbard became the first female combat veteran to run for president after her 2020 presidential campaign officially took off. She later confirmed in October 2019 that her re-election to the US House of Representatives in 2020 will not be happening because she will be busy with the presidential race.

The beautiful congresswoman has been married twice thus far. Her first husband was Eduardo Tamayo. The two got married in 2002 and by 2006, they were already divorced. Before they parted ways, the public didn’t get to know anything about Tamayo.
In April 2015, she started her second marriage with Abraham Williams, following their traditional Vedic wedding ceremony. Abraham is a freelance cinematographer and editor, born in New Zealand on an unspecified date. Tulsi’s husband has worked on a few short and full-length movies in different capacities, including as a cinematographer. Some of his works include Raphael Dumtaro: Warrior of Love, The Pit Where We Were Born, Down on the Sidewalk in Waikiki, Go for Broke, Last Taxi Dance, The Candle & the Curse, The Ace and many more.
Since they got married, the two have managed to maintain a very private relationship. Tulsi may come from a relatively big family but she is in no hurry to have kids of her own. Her two marriages are yet to produce any children.
