Yes, his career kicked off in the early 1950s when he began working as a comedy writer, scripting jokes and sketches for film and television, and short humorous books. The award-winning maestro was born Allan Stewart Konigsberg on December 1, 1935, in Brooklyn Borough, New York to Nettie Cherry and Martin Konigsburg, first-generation immigrants of Russian descent. He was the eldest of two children born to his parents. His mother was a bookkeeper and his father worked as a waiter and jewelry engraver. Allen is 83 years old at present.

He didn’t have the best years growing up as his parents were always squabbling. He attended Hebrew School, then Isaac Asimov School for Science and Literature, and Midwood High School from which he graduated in 1953. He was a star baseball player and magician in high school.
