Tommy Davidson Brief Bio

The outstanding comedian Tommy Davidson was born in Rolling Fork, Mississippi on November 10, 1963. He attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School located in Bethesda, Maryland. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in mass communication from the  University of the District of Colombia. Upon graduation, he completed his internship at the University’s radio station. He also worked in the storeroom of Hechinger in Hyattsville and a hospital kitchen prior to his comedy career.

Career

Tommy Davidson began his career as a stand-up comedian in 1986 and had his first performance in a strip club in Washington D.C. Subsequently, he started performing at various clubs in Philadelphia and Baltimore. Soon after that, he started featuring alongside artists including Kenny G and Patti LaBelle whom he did opening act for during their shows. Following his unique comedy style, Davidson won the 1987 amateur comedy concert organized at the Apollo Theatre.

In search of a larger audience, Tommy moved to California where he continued his comedy career. He performed at various comedy club centres; featured at the Comedy Store as well as the Arsenio Hall Show. Tommy participated in the 1990 variety show tagged In Living Color where he mimicked various stars including , Sammy Davis and Homey D. Clown. He released his first comedy tape titled IIin in Philly which was showing regularly on Comedy Central during the ’90s. Alongside Damon Wayans, , and , Davidson became famous for the originality of his comedy lines.

Furthermore, the comic star made his first film appearance in 1991, appearing alongside in the movie titled Strictly Business. His next project was Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and Booty Call. He starred in the 1998 romantic comedy film titled Woo alongside Jada Pinkett Smith. Afterwards, he featured in ‘s film titled Bamboozled in 2000. He went on to star in the 2001 animated series titled The Proud Family; playing the role of a voice actor for the character Oscar Proud. Alongside , , and ; he featured in the third season of the Comedy Central series titled Live at Gotham in 2008. He made a guest appearance in Mike Lazzo’s live talk show titled Space Host Coast to Coast.

His other comedy series include Black Dynamite, Between Brothers, Martin, I Am Comic, Just Like Us, and Everybody Hates Chris. He appeared in the fourth season of Celebrity Wife Swap with his fiance in 2015 and the following year, he featured on Celebrity Family Feud.

Davidson experienced a tough childhood; soon after his birth, he was dumped into a trash when he was a year and six months old. Fortunately for him, he was saved by a woman, Barbara Davidson, who later adopted him as her child. Nothing much is known about his biological parents; his adoptive parents are from Caucasian ethnicity while Tommy is of African-American ethnic origin. He grew up along with two siblings named Beryle and Michael Davidson. Although growing up as a black man in the white-dominated sphere was very hard; Tommy was able to get all the love and support he could from Barbara and her family. At the time, his mother, Barbara Davidson worked as a civil rights movement activist.

Growing up was so tough for Tommy; he faced lots of identity issues and racial discrimination because of his skin colour. Nevertheless, his family stood by him all the way. Today, he has smashed stereotypes and has carved out a niche for himself in the American entertainment industry.

In addition to his successful comedy career, Tommy Davidson is also a happily married man and a father. He got hitched to his long-term girlfriend Amanda Moore who owns a kiddies boutique called Lil Posh Resale, situated in Costa Mesa, Orange County, California. The couple tied the knot in 2015, unfortunately, there are no details with regards to their wedding venue and date. Since their marriage, they have continued to experience a euphoric married life.

Prior to his marriage to Amanda, Tommy previously had a relationship with Arlene Davidson with whom he had two kids – a son named Isaiah Davidson and a daughter named Jillian Davidson. Currently, he and Moore don’t have any kids; they are parents to his two children.
